Dawn Weiford O’Flaherty was a tenacious, diligent and caring mother, mentor, nurse, and ally. She was skilled in her ability to relate to her patients and possessed a unique talent for conveying often complicated information in a manner that is easily understood. Though she possessed an innate and professionally developed skillset and leaves a 40-year legacy through her storied career and the many lives she’s touched, she never returned to school to acquire her BSN though that was her continued wish.
In honor of Dawn’s radiant career, aspirations and legacy, her family has established the Dawn Weiford O’Flaherty Memorial Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship was created to help others who want to better their lives and fulfill their own dreams in the world of nursing. For those who want to return and finish what they started, those who are just beginning, or those who have been in the field and need to earn their BSN to advance their career to the next level, the Dawn Weiford O’Flaherty Memorial Nursing Scholarship will be a resource. Though she leaves behind 40 years of dedicated service, with this scholarship her impact will be indefinite - assisting many who tread the path she’s laid.
Her family says: “Dawn was a resource for so many people in her lifetime, it only makes sense to honor her memory by continuing to be a resource for those who need it.”
