Inclusive Educator Scholarship

Support Inclusive Educators at Radford University

Long-time education professor Liz Altieri established the Inclusive Educator Scholarship upon her retirement. Dr. Altieri's passion throughout her career was working with others to create strong, inclusive schools and communities. She prepared educators with the skills and dispositions for inclusive schools, comfortable and capable of teaching ALL students, regardless of ability or learning challenge. She collaborated with colleagues to initiate and build the Collaborative Elementary/Special Education Co-placed Field Experience (2006) and the newly approved (2023) Inclusive Educator Teacher Preparation Program that provides elementary and special education licensure. This scholarship is for a rising senior who will embody that same commitment to inclusive education and collaborate with others to serve students of all abilities in inclusive classrooms.

Join in celebrating Dr. Altieri's impact on the field and future of education at Radford with a gift to the Inclusive Educator Scholarship!

Dr. Altieri hosted some of her alumni special educators on campus March 2024.
