Announcing the Tom Lillard '79 Field at Cupp Stadium

At the Red and White Gala Radford Athletics announced the naming of the soccer field for Tom Lillard.  This naming honors a coach, colleague, and friend and celebrates his over 40 years of dedication to higher education and our Alma Mater. Gifts from this project will go to support and advanced the men's and women's soccer program at Radford.

Tom Lillard, Class of 1979, was part of the inaugural Radford Men’s Soccer team and helped transition the Highlanders to Division I Athletics. He served as the men’s assistant and head coach. Tom was also pivotal in forming the women’s soccer program, serving as its first head coach. Following his coaching career, he continued to impact athletics, securing the funding for Cupp Stadium and many other university scholarships and programs. He led the Highlander Club and most recently served as the AVP for University Advancement. He was honored with a 2014 Radford Athletics Hall of Fame induction.
